Why is the Bloc supporting the HST?

I have to ask this question. Where is the motivation for the Bloc to support the HST?

Time after time they have made it clear that they vote according to the interests of Quebec, so what's in it for them to support it?

Do you think they would ever support a HST initiative in Quebec?

I can think of only one reason the Bloc would vote in favour of a HST in Ontario and B.C.; to protect their seats and avoid an election.

Is that in the interests of Quebec?

They are?

I was under the impression they have made it clear without the payola for QC and the closure they can no longer support the motion.

I watched in QP yesterday.

The Tories originally framed it as an issue of respecting the rights of provinces.

Secondly, Quebec already has a version of the HST, however they were never compensated like Ontario or BC was for introducing it.

The Bloc are supporting HST because they hope the federal government will reimburse Quebec for when they brought in HST (Ontario and BC got compensations but not Quebec).

The block support the HST for one reason and one reason only. The coalition is alive and well. The only difference this time, is ,it's not made PUBLIC. All done behind closed doors. Ever wonder why the 3 parties are all sticking up for each other? NDP Block and LIBERALS, all on the same page. Look at the NDP attack ad against the Conservatives. Where is the LIBERAL party mentioned in their ad? They voted in support of the HST. Why is that not in the NDP ad? COALITION!!!!!lololololol. DUMMIES.
Now the two parties are calling for Peter McKay to retire. What a bunch of losers. Anything for extra seats. Wonder how the Liberal fund raising is coming along using the armed forces? Jack Layton and Iggy would sell their soles for seats or power. Pathetic bunch.

Re : " The coalition is alive and well"

I couldn't agree more with this sentence.

Give these slippery crooks the slightest of opportunity and they'll seize the Government of Canada in a heartbeat and will use the power that comes with it to bludgeon any and all opposition. All with the full and unrelenting support of the Toronto media who masquerade as Canada’s “National” media.

The fact is, the corporate welfare creeps who own the Liberal Party and had Ignatieff installed as leader, are truly desperate to gain access to the Canadian Treasury. That’s when you’ll see Canada’s deficit skyrocket to be on par with what those buffoons are doing in the States.

Beware.

Now that the NDP has passed Liberal support in Quebec,
Jack and Gilles could form a coalition with Quebec's approval,
and become the Official Opposition!

You asked: "Do you think they would ever support a HST initiative in Quebec?"

Actually, they already have. QST was harmonized with the HST and is collected as a single tax. There are some differences to the tax proposed for Ontario, but is basically the same.

The QST is, however, collected by Quebec authorities and the federal portion is sent on to Ottawa.

Aha! My point exactly! Quebec always has to have things their way, and theirs alone. So why support the government? Why would they vote in favour of something they would never do?

Ontario received $4Billion and BC received $1.6Billion to help allay the changeover costs to implement the new HST. QC now realizing the compensation component, wants their deserved payola. I figure about $3 Billion will be the expectation.....and intervener status on behalf of Quebec at some UN Francophony Conference.
